Rae was a successful late thirty-something with an active social life and a surprisingly fit physique for someone who'd spent the better part of the last five years slumped in an ergonomically torturous chair, when her fiancé decided to bail. But only after she'd purchased a wedding dress, gone off the pill and quit her job.
She and Steve had been together for over two years and, as far as she could tell, everything was fantastic. Steve was never happy; he just hadn't found a way to tell her there were problems. Meteorite-sized problems, apparently. So there she was -- unemployed, stuck with her yuppie mortgage, her COBRA payments, a gaping hole on her resume, and a chip the size of Montana on her shoulder.
